COME OUT TO PLAY!

Fans of the classic gang fighting (with roller skates and disco music) classic, The Warriors, may recognise the above title as the taunt used by the leader from the Rogues in Walter Hill's classic which culminates on a beach in Coney Island. Being one of my favourite films I gladly took up Nigel's offer to visit this delapidated beach front. As all the carnival stuff was closed, there was a pretty sad air about the place, a feeling that the best times had passed. I've never been, but it made me think of Blackpool, another working class holiday resort in the pits. Miserable and amusing at the same time. We walked the beach front and took pictures of the "shoot at the moving freak" stalls, we even went to that hot dog place where they hold the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot-Dog Eating Contest. But anyway that's enough about Coney, I recommend it.
The gig at the Knitting Factory was a cracker, it was full, people were very nice to us, Maria Taylor and 13 Ghosts were great, we drank whiskey and had a hotel room party afterwards. Apparently we throw decent after show hotel room parties.
We all had a great time on our recent US trip and cannae wait to get back in July, dates should be announced soon.
Hasta Luego,
Lee

Seven Flights Up

Ah Sweet Home Alabama...
and that was just the film on the plane.

This will have to be a quickie, the credit is ticking away rapidly and who wants to spend their precious time in NY on the computer?

The band are having an excellent time. SXSW was strange, full of beautiful people and raindrops. Thanks to everyone who came to see us when there were so many other possible attractions.
We had a brilliant time in North Carolina too, a very busy show for a rainy monday night, thanks for making us look popular in front of our record label. And thanks to Spot from Merge for the drunken massages, a particular hit with our burly boys.
I am really looking forward to the Knitting Factory show tonight which is sold out.

I feel sick. I just ate my breakfast and half of Tracy's.

Summer means new love

Ho!
Well the butterflies are attacking. No, that's too twee. We're beginning to soil ourselves with excitement because it is now the week of sxsw. Can you believe it?
I shouldn't be feeling so excited because in this weeks Dissertation News I, er, still haven't written it. Oh well, why not flush your degree down the toilet at the last minute, eh?
Other news...hmmm...recent highlights include carrying the Yamaha Electone up 4 flight of spiral staircase to rehearsal last week. I'm not sure if Gavin will ever walk again. Excellent. And the Concretes record launch which was enjoyed through a rosy but not rosé wine haze, I deserved it after all, right?.
Feel free to write in and leave suggestion as to what I need to pack so that I don't forget anything.
love carey xx

This is definately one of those posts I hope the parents don't read.
